Community Service Project - Tax Preparers Needed for Viet Community
Hi everyone,
Here's a volunteer opp that you may be interested in:
*Help low-income families prepare their tax returns
**Save qualified working families the expense of paying a tax preparer
***Volunteer tax preparers are needed esp volunteers who can speak Vietnamese, but not required, as translators can be recruited.
****No experience necessary as training will be provided--if you have done your taxes online you have the skills you need to begin
The CASH-VITA program (Creating Assets, Savings, and Hope) is a local coalition of community leaders from nonprofits, businesses, gov agencies, schools, and faith-based orgs who connect low-income communities to opportunities for tax preparation. All services are provided free of charge. The program helps low-income families get the money they deserve under the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC).
Program starts Jan - Apr 2008. Commitment is based on your availability but no more than a few hours/week.
